From time to time we all get stuck and find it hard to stay motivated or focused on achieving results. When this happens, we become unsure of the next steps. We end up procrastinating and possibly finding other less important things to do, rather than the activities that bring in results. I'm sure you've experienced that in the past, right?
We can even begin to question our goals and if we are doing the right thing but with a good dose of positivity and the right tools and techniques, we can quickly get back on track.
Below are 3 ways to become unstuck - and get you back on track with achieving your goals:
Take a step back
Rather than sitting and staring blankly at the screen, or trying to find other things to do, take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Remind yourself that this is temporary and it can easily be changed. It's not the end of the world.
Face the issue
Rather than avoiding the issue, face it head-on. If you have an important task such as creating a landing page, doing some prospecting or finding a new supplier but are worried it might go wrong then this could be holding you back. Face the fear and address the issue. In his book ‘Eat That Frog’, Brian Tracy talks about getting the hardest task done first (also known as the frog). You might find this book an inspirational way to take action and address your biggest challenge.
Even if you aren’t fully sure what to do, taking any action to get unstuck, even if it's not quite the result you wanted, will get you moving in the right direction. According to Brian Moran, “Once you start moving, you'll find your way.”
Break the activities down
Quite often we can be overwhelmed with a task - not knowing where to start and not knowing exactly what to do - but by breaking it down into bite-size chunks, activities become easier, and there is more clarity on what needs to be done. Having smaller activities that are completed quicker provides greater satisfaction as there is a feeling of progress.
